Now, it doesn't say what time period it's from, but the U.S.S. America was decommissioned in 1996, so it couldn't have been that far from when Jason would have been onboard. After watching it, I could really see why Jason would think it's bullshit - I mean, imagine if part of your initiation was to submerge yourself in a vat of green goo, and pick a cherry out of a man's stomach? And swim through mud? That just sounds wrong and gross, unless you're a hardcore Navy freak, which Jack might be.

This must have been part of the "new navy". When I crossed in 1967 kneepads and hand wraps were forbidden! I guess this new generation of sailors with their computer generated firing solutions are afraid to get their hands dirty! Good luck America, you are going to need it with women, gays and soft-core sailors onboard! You may want to rename this event the "Soft-shellback Initiation"
