I've been looking up a lot of stuff about bar fights and I've come across some interesting things. It seems like standard sentences for manslaughter (at least bar-fights resulting in manslaughter) are often around about 10 years.

This video is mildly disturbing, but I found it also to be very evocative. Just thinking about where Jason may have been the night before the show begins (since I believe the strongest choice is for the bar-fight to be the inciting incident that causes him to return home).
